One head looking intently and resolutely in two completely opposite directions, representing inner conflict. The head, the governing mechanism of consciousness and how an individual body thinks and physically functions, is trying to cope with opposing views, this dichotomy within itself. While this is depicted as an individual person, the concept can be extrapolated to what is happening in our country, and humanity globally. My work in sculpture focuses on representations of concepts and qualities of humanness. Seeing my works, I wish viewers to find resonance and relevance of “being human” as I express in physical form facets, abstractions and iterations centering around the mind-body connection and human experience. Working primarily in metal renders weight and material presence to the subject matter.
