Fiber Art - Handwoven Tapestry
This tapestry is designed from a compilation of my photographs taken In a variety of locations in Arizona. The image is re-created, re-drawn and prepared for handweaving using Adobe Photo Shop. The tapestry is handwoven in 4 colors of cotton at 45 ends per inch on a jacquard loom and finished with textile hand painting. It is embellished with hand drawn digitized embroidery.

Artist Statement
This handwoven tapestry celebrates the incredible variety of migrating birds who find winter environs that support them in the Southwest U.S. Our feathered friends come in a wide variety of colors, sizes, and shapes. They have evolved to eat different things, live in a wide variety of eco systems: in deserts, mountains, canyons and valleys. Despite their differences they share the trees, shrubs and grasses — the lakes, reservoirs, wetlands and riparian preserves. They carry on the daily tasks of their lives in an orderly way. They can be observed frequenting back yard feeders, Audubon centers, Wildlife Reserves and in State/National Parks and Monuments. They are an amazing example of living life in balance - as long as humans do not interfere.
